SNOW glad it's Spring!

We got nailed by a major snow storm today.  I'm pretty sure we're up to at least 9 inches on the ground right now and it is still coming down!  Jason headed outside this morning to execute a preemptive move by shoveling the driveway of the first several inches so that he wouldn't have quite so much to dig through the second time around.  It didn't start out as a fun chore for him, really.  But then the neighbor kiddos wandered over...and Jason playfully tossed a shovel full of snow at them.  That ginormous snowball knocked the oldest boy right over which caused the whole gang to laugh hysterically.  And that was the beginning of a fun game...

I heard gleeful shouts of "Me, me, Jason!  Hit me!"

"My turn! Get me!"

Adding joy to a chore.  My Jason is good at that.

I'm not sure who got tired of it first.

We scattered some bird seed on our porch to try to help out our poor feathered friends.

This made the Buxton place a popular hang out.  We've gotten to enjoy seeing a variety of beautiful birdies today.  I don't think we captured any shots of the Cardinals but there is something so gorgeous about the bright red against the pure white snow.

The snow storm cut our visit short with cousins but we did get to enjoy an afternoon of Golwitzer goodness!

Liliana has been saving her money from her birthday but decided it was time for some shopping!

So she grabbed her money and her purse and off we went.

Liliana getting prepared for her first 5K run

Well, in her case it was more of a 5K "stroll"

It was cold and rainy and well, miserable.  But we finished!

With this ring...

Jason won this fancy, glittery ring at an arcade game.  Already having a dashing mustache of his own, he gave it to his best girl, Liliana.  She loved it, of course, and put it away in a special place in her room.  Yesterday morning, she told me that she will keep this ring until she's an adult and finds the boy she wants to marry.  When she finds that boy, she will give him this ring.  Then, that boy will give her a ring like the one Daddy gave me.  I can't wait to present this ring to that special boy...some 25 years from now.

December, January, February recap

So it's a really good thing that I don't blog for a living or I'd have been fired long ago.  I'm really sorry to everyone (and to Liliana if she's reading this many years from now) for neglecting the blog for so long.  I have a 2013 resolution to do better!  Here is a quick recap of the past couple of months:  (please forgive the somewhat random order, Blogger does not seem to be cooperating and I don't have the patience to fight with it today)

One of my favorite places is here on the couch with Liliana and a good book

And her silly face...again

My birthday cake being delivered by a hottie!  Happy Birthday to me!

We went in to check on Liliana and found her sound asleep, sitting on the floor next to her bed.

The angle of the shot makes her look even longer but seriously, when did this kid get so big?!

Santa brought her exactly what she asked for.  She must've been a very good girl!

My daddy made me a pair of stilts when I was a tween-ager and I loved them!  I think I probably asked for them on a whim and he whipped up a pair for me and helped me practice until I could walk on them by myself.  I ended up getting fairly good at using them.  I think they became a casualty of our house fire but I remember telling Jason about them at some point and how much I enjoyed playing on them.  So he made me this pink pair for Christmas.  I felt like a kid again!  :)
Liliana got a Silly String gun for Christmas.  Jason caught this neat pic as she took aim at him
