Going to the courthouse

This morning we headed to the St. Charles County courthouse ("quarterhouse" to Liliana) to apply for our marriage license ("lesson").  Liliana came along to participate in the fun!
Daddy and Liliana on the way in.

We, of course, had to have the customary keepsake photo of us with the fresh license.  Liliana was more than happy to be our photographer.
First try....

Getting closer...

A little better yet...

Nearly there...

Total miss...

Perfect!!  Really not bad for a 2 year old!  I think she's got a future in photography.

This was one great errand to run and I have to say the picture was our favorite part.  We laughed so hard because Liliana was totally determined to get it right and was so excited when she did!

Lady in Red

We found ourselves dealing with an eighty-degree day, and us with a shortage of summer clothing for Lilie to wear.  We cobbled together an outfit that was kind of monochromatic, and then she accessorized with even more red...  She wears it well!

We went out to revisit the chapel and Klondike Park, just to get a sense of how far apart they are, etc..  And Lilie was in a photo-taking mood, which is rare.  Here are the results:

We stopped at a winery (highly recommended! it's between the chapel and the reception, too), and Lilie wondered what was beneath the deck.  She developed a habit of stopping suddenly so she could take a look...

I asked for her 'cheesy grin' and I got Sean Penn.

Snakes in the kitchen!

True story:

My mom was babysitting Liliana at my house yesterday and I was on the phone with her when she suddenly starting screaming. When Grandma could finally talk again, she told me that there was a snake on my kitchen counter! Jason and I were about an hour away but fortunately, my neighbor was home and he came over right away and saved Lilie and my mom from the big, bad snake. We can't figure out how the snake possibly got into the house and how he (or she) was able to get on the counter top but we're pretty sure it was one bizarre, isolated incident. As creepy as it was, I love to hear Lilie retell the story over and over again.
